Polar Bear Contest for environmentally concerned teens in the United States and Canada.
(Oslo 13. Juli 2009) – Lowepro, a product design company that builds protective gear for photography equipment and portable electronics, announced its role as 2009 Platinum sponsor of Polar Bears International’s (PBI) contest for teens: Project Polar Bear.
The contest challenges teens to develop community projects that reduce the load of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Last year’s finalist teams together reduced more than 17 million pounds of carbon dioxide because of their projects. This year’s Grand Prize winners will win a trip to Western Hudson Bay to observe polar bears in the wild.
“We are proud to support PBI in their targeted and tireless efforts to protect polar bear habitat,” said Treg Tyler, director of marketing, Lowepro Worldwide. “As our partnership continues and expands, we are thrilled to take part in a program that engages teens to create solutions that help their communities and our planet,” he added.
Lowepro was founded by photographers and photo professionals who are passionate about nature and the preservation of the natural world. “This PBI contest draws attention to the plight of polar bears, the involvement of future generations and the fact that individuals can make a difference,” said Tyler.
PBI is a non-profit organization dedicated to the worldwide preservation of the polar bear and its habitat through research and education. Visit their web site at www.polarbearsinternational.org.
